Anthurium and Alocasia

Anthuriums are native to South America, specifically, Ecuador, Columbia, and Brazil. They grow epiphytically in humid, rainforests so they need moderate to high humidity. They live under the canopies so they need bright, indirect light. They need well-draining soil, but they like to be a little moist and can be watered every 5-7 days.

Alocasias like bright, indirect light near east or north windows. They like well-draining soil and to be moist, but do not like having wet feet. If too wet, they are susceptible to root rot. If you underwater an alocasia, they are prone to getting spider mites. Ideally, water these plants every 4-6 days. Native to Subtropical Asia, alocasias need humidity to thrive.

Both Anthuriums and Alocasias are toxic to pets and humans.
