A warm welcome from the owners
Welcome to The Rootery! We are a local plant shop operating out of Northwest Indiana. Born at the kitchen table, obsessing over some beautiful Philodendron White Wizards that we received that day, surrounded by our ever growing collection of houseplants. Our business officially launched during the fall of 2022 for plant lovers, nature enthusiasts, art fanatics, and vintage finders. If you find yourself under any of these categories, this is the place for you and we know you'll feel at home!
Our main goal with our new blog is to give you plant care advice over all the plants we have in store for you. We hope our advice will teach you something new and in return we are always looking to learn more information of all things plant related.
Now, Who exactly is The Rootery?
We are three ladies, all in the same family, who joined together to bring our passions to others who share the same thoughts and feelings as us. We love exploring new plants daily and appreciate the most basic finds. It was our goal to bring the rare plants at an affordable price to you, as well as having the common house plants right around the corner from your own home.
Our local plant shop is housed in The Hub Vintage Boutique and Market in downtown Crown Point, Indiana. You'll find our booth upstairs. We hope you find peace in what we have envisioned for you all. With it full of everything we love. It is a space for you to hang out and get lost in.
Do you have one person to thank for your love of plants? We definitely do. We have our grandmothers and mothers to thank for our growing obsession. What started with our grandmothers and mothers enjoying their outdoor gardening, has slowly progressed to our love of indoor houseplants. We always hear, and agree with this statement to its fullest, it is not hoarding, we are merily expanding our collection. So do not be afraid to seek out those plants you love most or to find all the pinkest plants that you can get your hands on.

We encourage you to share your newest finds with us. Connect with us through social media, post a photo and tag us, or come visit when we announce when and where we will be next. Take a selfie with our plants and spread your joys with the world, just as we share ours with you. We dare you to share your passion with us.
Hey Planty Friends! While the content here remains true, I just wanted to provide an update. The Rootery is no longer inside The Hub. While we have enjoyed and appreciate our time in The Hub, we have shifted our focus to pop-up events, and other news coming soon. That said, we are still currently operating out of our little secret in Market 102 in Valparaiso! This sweet little market opens officially in June 2024 and you can find all of your favorite The Rootery staples there. You can still catch us at local events. See our events page.
